About
The Wilson Bruce Evans Home Historical Society is rehabilitating the home at 33 East Vine Street built by an African American abolitionist and Underground Railroad operative.  Through its efforts, the house will eventually open it to the public as a house museum and educational center telling the story of the Evans family and descendants, and the long struggle for racial justice in Oberlin and in the United States. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places and, in 1997, became a National Historic Landmark. Coming together in 2021, descendants of Evans and local history supporters incorporated as a 501(c)3; we welcome supporters and new members to join us in our work.  Our informal motto ôRestoring 33 East Vine Street, Reshaping the Future,ö reflects our hopes to connect our past with our plans for what our community and our national can be and do in the years ahead.
