Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., as we celebrate the 17th anniversary of one of Oberlin’s favorite summer events: Chalk Walk! Join us in downtown Oberlin for a day filled with creativity, community, and colorful chalk art.
Local and regional artists will transform the sidewalks into a vibrant gallery of imaginative chalk drawings. Volunteers will provide free materials, inviting visitors of all ages to add their own artistic touch to the sidewalk canvas.
Oberlin Chalk Walk is a collaborative event, proudly organized by the Allen Memorial Art Museum, Firelands Association for the Visual Arts (FAVA), Oberlin Business Partnership (OBP), Oberlin Heritage Center, and Oberlin Public Library.
This year’s master artists include Wendy Mahon, Héctor Castellanos, and Robin Van Lear. Local talents such as Keith Joe Dick, Mandy Heinebrodt, Keith McGuckin, Karly West, and Beth Wolosz will also showcase their skills. Contributing to the themed wall outside the Oberlin Public Library, titled “Inspirational Women,” are Alex Borroni, Jan Dregalla, Terry Flores, Dana Juliano, and Cara Romano.
Even if you’re not participating in creating chalk art, we encourage you to come downtown to witness the art in action. Enjoy a leisurely stroll, take photos, savor a meal or snack at one of our local restaurants, and explore unique retail shops. You’ll be amazed at the creativity that a few sticks of chalk can inspire.
This event is made possible with the support of our additional sponsors: Aladdin’s Eatery, Ginko Gallery & Studios, Oberlin Cable Co-op, Kendal at Oberlin, Kohl’s Associates in Action, Oberlin College, The City of Oberlin, and Friends of the Oberlin Public Library.
