Jill Greenwood began her appointment as the Eric & Jane Nord Family Curator of Education at the Allen Memorial Art Museum at Oberlin College in July 2017. She is responsible for public programming, education, tours, and accessibility at the museum and college-owned Weltzheimer/Johnson House designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Each Winter Term, Greenwood teaches a practicum in museum education for the Gallery Guide program, which she oversees. Greenwood has over thirty years of experience in non-profit arts management and teaching in higher education.
Greenwood earned her doctorate degree at the University of Kansas in medieval art with research related to Romanesque art in central Italy, the visual politics of the Investiture Controversy and the Crusades, the reception of medieval portal designs, and the contextualization of the genital displaying topos in Romanesque art.
As a visiting and adjunct professor, Greenwood has taught courses in art history on topics related to European and American art, the history of printmaking, and museum studies, in addition to leading study abroad programs in Paris, Florence, and Brussels.
